Shiny Pokémon

Understanding Shiny Spawn Rates

To understand how shiny spawn rates work, you first need an understanding of how spawners work. Read the Spawn Rates guide before continuing.

99% of the time, the shiny rate is a constant value set by the server/map. This value applies to all Pokémon on all spawners, with some exceptions. The shiny rate can be seen in the server section of the escape menu and will update to match the map you are currently on.

The Rarity of Shiny Pokémon

To work out how rare a particular shiny Pokémon is, you need to multiply the spawn rate by the shiny rate.

Example:Charmander: 1/1000 spawn × 1/2000 shiny = 1/2,000,000In the range of 2 million spawns, you would expect 1 of them to be a shiny Charmander. This is not a guarantee — it's the expected rate.

The Exceptions

Some Pokémon have a "fixed" or "locked" shiny rate, meaning they are either always shiny or never shiny. We show this on the wiki in the spawn notes.

  • Crystal Onix — fixed spawn rate of 1/100,000 and a fixed shiny rate of 1/1. Always spawns shiny. Not to be confused with the regular Onix (1/20 spawn rate, affected by shiny rate).
  • White Dratini — similar fixed spawn, always shiny when it appears.
  • Pokéball Pokémon (starters, fossils, hitmons) — fixed in all stats. Everyone gets the same nature, size, IVs, and shiny value (not shiny).

Shiny Variations

One of Pokémon MMO 3D's standout features is shiny variants. All Pokémon have a shiny version, but some have more than one.

Shiny variants range from 1 (standard) to 10. The variant number does not represent rarity — a star 10 isn't rarer than a star 1. The odds of finding a star 10 Vulpix are the same as a star 1. Not all Pokémon have 10 variants.
