What are Pokémon Levels?
Your Pokémon's level has a direct impact on its overall power. Increasing your Pokémon's level will unlock more moves if available, allow evolution to a better stage, and increase overall stats (damage output, defence, HP, etc.).
The maximum level your Pokémon can reach is 125.
How to Get XP
The only way to gain XP for your Pokémon is by fainting wild Pokémon. Several factors affect the amount of XP gained:
- Trainer level — the higher your trainer level, the more XP universally
- Wild Pokémon level — the higher the wild Pokémon's level, the more XP
- Species XP gain stat — every Pokémon has an XP gain stat (applies to its wild form only)
- Boss status — boss Pokémon give bonus XP
Level's Effect on EVs
Your Pokémon's level can increase your total EV cap per stat, but only once you surpass Level 100. Then every level after 100 gives an additional 100 EVs to your total cap.
